Recent Committee Activities

Conference Committee

  • In our recent committee meeting, Chairman Ted Hake shared the findings from his site visit to potential venues for the 2024 AIBD Annual Meeting and Design & Build Conference. After carefully reviewing the data, committee members Traci Kelley and Brandon Clokey concurred that the Embassy Suites San Antonio Riverwalk-Downtown was the premier choice.

Despite being marginally pricier than our 2023 Nashville venue, the committee firmly believes that the Embassy Suites offers unparalleled value that justifies the additional cost. The hotel's amenities, location, and overall ambiance align perfectly with our vision for the 2024 conference.

The next stage in our planning process is negotiating a contract with the Embassy Suites. Once finalized, this will be presented to the board of directors for their deliberation on December 6. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to plan for an exciting and enriching Annual Meeting and Design & Build Conference in 2024.

Membership Committee

  • In our latest committee meeting, spearheaded by Chairwoman Karen Kassik-Michelsohn, we delved into strategies to enhance member engagement and bolster retention rates. The dialogue revolved around innovative ideas, such as conducting regular surveys to gain insights into membership opportunities. This improves our offerings and ensures members are aware of the wealth of opportunities available.

Have a triumphant week!

Courtyards have a history dating back to around 6400-6000 BC, with the earliest known appearance in the Neolithic Yarmukian site at Sha'ar HaGolan in the central Jordan Valley. This gives courtyards special significance in architectural history. What's fascinating is how courtyards evolved from a practical necessity to a deliberate architectural feature.Originally, homes had open fires burning in a central area with only a small hole in the ceiling for smoke to escape.Over time, these openings...
