Help us answer the question: Innie or Outie windows?

Published 18 days ago • 1 min read

Hello Reader,

If you're designing and building thick exterior walls with exterior foam, you may have come across this dilemma: Are the windows going to be innies or outies?

Both of these techniques involve positioning the window flanges in relation to the surrounding materials.

But which one should you choose? And how can you ensure that your windows are properly installed?

With "outie" windows, the flanges are placed on the same plane as the siding's back.

On the other hand, "innie" windows have their flanges set in line with OSB wall sheathing.

Will either way work? What do you need to know to make sure they do?

Let's get together next Tuesday (April 16) and talk about it.

The AIBD High-Performance Homes Team is hosting their monthly sustainability, resiliency, and energy efficiency round-table discussion this Tuesday at 4:00 pm ET.

During the session, we'll discuss best practices for installing windows in high-performance homes. We'll also cover common mistakes to avoid and how to ensure that your windows are properly installed for optimal energy efficiency and durability.

There's no cost, and AIBD membership is not required, but space is limited.

Register at AIBD.org/high-performance-homes-team and look for an email with your link to the program.

See you online,
The A-Team

P.S. - Tomorrow is Coffee With Bernie (10:00 am ET). Talk about boosting your business, value-adding tips, and building smart partnerships.
