Global Choice voting is open. You be the judge!

In the old days of architectural design, the American Institute of Building Design's annual awards program was a much-anticipated event, especially for the coveted "Designer's Choice" trophy.

This prestigious award held a special place in the hearts of designers across the nation.

Every summer, as the warm breeze carried the scent of freshly printed photographs, design pros would flock to the annual Summer Design & Build Conference.

The excitement was palpable as attendees clutched their three-ring binders, filled with meticulously curated photos of their latest projects.

The conference hall buzzed with chatter as designers proudly displayed their work, hoping to catch the eye of their peers.

Attendees would spend hours poring over the entries, marveling at the creativity and innovation on display.

The voting process was a social affair, with heated debates and friendly rivalries forming over favorite designs.

Okay, we made that last one up.

The room was more like a library as everyone intensely studied the designs.

Fast forward to today, and the landscape of architectural awards has evolved dramatically.

The American Residential Design Awards now feature a "Global Choice" category, opening up the voting process to designers worldwide.

As scheduled, the 2024 Global Choice voting has just opened!

Designers from around the world can now view this year's entries and cast their votes, participating in a truly international celebration of architectural excellence.

So, why not take a moment to embrace the spirit of those bygone days?

Visit the American Residential Design Awards website, browse through the stunning entries, and cast your vote for the Global Choice award.

Voting closes at Midnight (PT) on July 15.

Who knows? You might just help crown the next architectural masterpiece!

Hello Reader, On Monday, Steve Mickley shared how one sentence in his agreement helped him collect an unpaid invoice in hours. If you missed it, check it out (00:01:46): That's only one example of how a well-structured contract can save time and money. Here's another, more unusual, scenario. What if your client asks you to design a whole-house remodel, expecting the new insulation, appliances, windows, and HVAC system to lower their electric bill, but the opposite happens? How is that...

The ceiling of The Campbell in Grand Central Station.

Although Jupiter is paradise (#ILiveWhereYouVacation), it's pretty homogenous outside of the AIBD Office. We don't have much of an art culture. All of the music is either Country or something like Rock-Reggae (not like The Police but like Sublime). All of the buildings, houses or otherwise, pretty much all look the same.
