The Props Assist the House [Midweek Vibe]

The Props assist the House
Until the House is built
And then the Props withdraw
And adequate, erect,
The House supports itself
And cease to recollect
The Augur and the Carpenter –
Just such a retrospect
Hath the perfected Life –
A Past of Plank and Nail
And slowness – then the scaffolds drop
Affirming it a Soul –

That poem is The Props Assist the House by Emily Dickinson.

At the American Institute of Building Design (AIBD), we believe that every successful career is built on a strong foundation. Just as Dickinson eloquently described in her poem, we see ourselves as the essential supports that help you build and sustain your professional journey.

Our College of Fellows Mentorship Program is dedicated to being the props that assist you in your career. While you are the design+build of your own success, our mentors are here to provide the guidance, support, and resources you need to stand strong and reach new heights.

Whether you are just starting out or looking to advance further, our experienced mentors are committed to helping you navigate the challenges and seize the opportunities in the field of building design. We are here to ensure that you have the support you need to build a career that stands the test of time.

Hello Reader, On Monday, Steve Mickley shared how one sentence in his agreement helped him collect an unpaid invoice in hours. If you missed it, check it out (00:01:46): That's only one example of how a well-structured contract can save time and money. Here's another, more unusual, scenario. What if your client asks you to design a whole-house remodel, expecting the new insulation, appliances, windows, and HVAC system to lower their electric bill, but the opposite happens? How is that...

The ceiling of The Campbell in Grand Central Station.

Although Jupiter is paradise (#ILiveWhereYouVacation), it's pretty homogenous outside of the AIBD Office. We don't have much of an art culture. All of the music is either Country or something like Rock-Reggae (not like The Police but like Sublime). All of the buildings, houses or otherwise, pretty much all look the same.
