We've got your back

Reader, we want you to know AIBD is looking out for you!

As your trusted partner in the design industry, we're constantly monitoring legislation and building code amendments to ensure your interests are protected.

But our commitment to you doesn't stop there.

Our Building Codes Committee Chairman is suing Broward County, Florida, in an effort to set a precedent that will secure our rights nationally.

While we wait for those results, we're excited to remind you about the upcoming Design & Build San Antonio Conference, where you'll have the opportunity to network, learn, and grow your business.

This is another way we've got your back:

The Embassy Suites originally wanted to end the hotel block on Friday, July 5th.

But we figured...

  • most people are taking a long weekend (some of the A-Team is), which means ...
  • they're hopefully not checking their work emails (you deserve a break), and...
  • at least one person is waiting until the last minute to book their hotel (just do it now before you forget).

So, we convinced the hotel to move the last day to the 8th.

Be aware, the 8th is a Monday after a long weekend. It's going to be easy to put this off and forget again.

Here's what you need to do right now:

  1. Hotel Room Block: Our re-negotiated room block at the Embassy Suites by Hilton San Antonio closes on July 8th. Act now to guarantee your spot at the conference venue.
  2. Conference Ticket Prices: Don't miss out on early bird pricing! Ticket prices will increase by $50 on July 9th. Reserve your spot today and save.

Important Note on Hotel Bookings:

We've noticed that some attendees have found lower room rates online. If you come across a better deal, please let us know immediately. This information helps us negotiate better rates for everyone, ensuring you get the best value for your stay.

AIBD is committed to supporting your professional growth and success.

We've got your back.

Take Action Now:

  1. Book your hotel room through our official room block before July 8th.
  2. Purchase your conference ticket at the current rate before the price increase on July 9th.
  3. If you find a lower hotel rate online, inform us right away.

Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your skills, expand your network, and stay ahead of industry trends.

We look forward to seeing you at Design & Build San Antonio!
-The A-Team

Hello Reader, On Monday, Steve Mickley shared how one sentence in his agreement helped him collect an unpaid invoice in hours. If you missed it, check it out (00:01:46): That's only one example of how a well-structured contract can save time and money. Here's another, more unusual, scenario. What if your client asks you to design a whole-house remodel, expecting the new insulation, appliances, windows, and HVAC system to lower their electric bill, but the opposite happens? How is that...

The ceiling of The Campbell in Grand Central Station.

Although Jupiter is paradise (#ILiveWhereYouVacation), it's pretty homogenous outside of the AIBD Office. We don't have much of an art culture. All of the music is either Country or something like Rock-Reggae (not like The Police but like Sublime). All of the buildings, houses or otherwise, pretty much all look the same. All of the art looks like this: Beach with American Flag at sunset. Beach with American Flag, this time not at sunset. Don't get me wrong: I love both the beach and American...
